Bulgaria's First Professional League features clubs contesting a regular season followed by championship and relegation playoffs. Ludogorets Razgrad have dominated the modern era with a long sequence of titles and regular European group-stage participation, a rise funded by private investment that displaced the historical Sofia duopoly of CSKA and Levski, whose derby remains the country's most significant fixture and whose combined honours still lead the all-time count. Bulgarian football's high point internationally came at the 1994 World Cup, and the league has since contracted in European standing amid financial instability, ownership disputes and licensing problems that have repeatedly forced historic clubs into reorganisation. The football is physical and defensively oriented, and clubs rely on sales to Turkey, Russia and Central Europe.
No A PFG fixtures are scheduled in the next seven days. The 2026/2027 season runs from 17 July 2026 to 17 April 2027.
