Super League (China) — league overview

The Chinese Super League features 16 clubs and stands in a markedly different position from a decade ago. Between roughly 2015 and 2019 the league spent heavily on high-profile foreign players and coaches, briefly making it one of the world's highest-paying competitions; the subsequent withdrawal of property-sector backing triggered a severe contraction, and several clubs — including a recent champion and multiple AFC Champions League winners — were dissolved or demoted for insolvency. The league now operates under strict salary caps and neutral-name rules requiring clubs to drop corporate branding. Shanghai's two clubs and Beijing Guoan are among the more stable institutions. The football is physically committed and increasingly reliant on domestic players, with a small number of foreign slots per squad.

No Super League fixtures are scheduled in the next seven days. The 2026 season runs from 6 March 2026 to 8 November 2026.
