Premier League (Egypt) — league overview

Egypt's Premier League is dominated by Al Ahly and Zamalek, both Cairo clubs whose derby is the largest fixture in African football and among the most heavily attended anywhere. Al Ahly are the most successful club in African history, with a record number of CAF Champions League titles alongside their commanding domestic count, and Zamalek's continental honours place them among the confederation's elite. The league's competitive concentration is extreme, and matches between the two are frequently staged at neutral or restricted venues for crowd-safety reasons. Egyptian football is technically strong and tactically organised, supplying the national team that has won the Africa Cup of Nations more often than any other, and the league increasingly exports to Europe's mid-tier leagues and the Gulf.

No Premier League fixtures are scheduled in the next seven days. The 2026/2027 season runs from 21 August 2026 to 20 February 2027.
