Nations League (Eurocups) — league overview

The UEFA Nations League is a competition for European national teams rather than clubs, introduced in 2018 to replace the majority of international friendlies with competitive fixtures. The 55 member associations are divided into four tiers, Leagues A to D, with promotion and relegation between them, so that nations of comparable strength meet repeatedly instead of being drawn against opposition decades apart in standard. League A concludes with a knockout finals stage that awards the title. Its second function matters as much as the trophy: results feed a play-off route into European Championship and World Cup qualification, giving smaller nations a realistic path to a major tournament that the qualifying groups alone would not provide. Matches are played in the international windows of autumn and spring.

No Nations League fixtures are scheduled in the next seven days. The 2026/2027 season runs from 24 September 2026 to 17 November 2026.
