Eliteserien (Norway) — league overview

Norway's Eliteserien runs from March to December, following the Scandinavian summer calendar rather than the European autumn-to-spring season, which shapes both squad planning and European competitiveness — Norwegian clubs enter UEFA qualifying mid-season while their opponents are in pre-season. Sixteen clubs play 30 matches. Rosenborg dominated for decades and lead the historical count by a wide margin, while Bodø/Glimt's emergence from above the Arctic Circle, built on aggressive positional play and an artificial surface that visiting European sides find disorienting, has been the league's defining recent story. The football is direct, physical and increasingly technical, and Norway's academies have lately produced players of genuine elite quality. Weather and artificial pitches are recurring factors, particularly early and late in the season.

No Eliteserien fixtures are scheduled in the next seven days. The 2026 season runs from 14 March 2026 to 13 December 2026.
